Blueprint Festival – Haçienda Legends To Bring House Festival to Kelham Island in June

Looking for a dance music festival in Sheffield this summer? You’re in luck.

From the 28th to the 30th of June, Steelyard at Kelham Island will host Blueprint Festival – a brand new weekend festival focused on house music. It has been curated by Graeme Park, a legendary resident DJ of Haçienda fame who helped to put rave music on the map in the 1980s and 1990s.

The line-up includes some huge names. Headliner Todd Terry is one of the most influential names in house music, popularising the use of samples that blend classic Chicago house with disco and hip-hop, and defining the New York dance scene of the ‘90s. You will no doubt recognise his 1988 hit track ‘Weekend’, which has been tearing up dancefloors for more than 35 years.

Norman Jay, MBE, will also be headlining. This renowned sound-system DJ was a founder of radio station Kiss FM (back when it was an illegal pirate station), and since the 1980s has been considered one of the UK’s leading names in house, soul, disco and boogie.

Other names attached to the festival include house and garage group K-Klass, DJ Greg Wilson, Fat Tony, Jon Pleased Wimmin, HiFi Sean, Jon da Silva, Lisa Loud, Tom Wainwright, and more.

The festival will also feature a ‘spectacular’ light and sound production, with acrobatic performers, and street food stalls from local traders. The Steelyard venue is set to be transformed into what the festival describes as an ‘immersive tropical wonderland’. The Steelyard has previously been home to summer events including Sunset Festival and Kargo parties.

This new festival is another boost for Kelham Island, and shows that this former industrial area is continuing to flourish as one of the ‘coolest neighbourhoods in the world’, as it has been named by TimeOut magazine.

With the amount of incredible talent in this line-up, it is sure to be a fantastic flashback to the legendary raves and summer parties of house’s golden era.

Tickets for Blueprint Festival start at £25 for a day pass, or £55 for a weekend ticket, with a £75 VIP option available. Tickets are available here. For any upcoming news and updates, you can follow Blueprint Festival on their website and socials.
