Hello Steam Kitchen, Welcome To Highfield

The third Steam Kitchen is coming this weekend, and if you’re a fan of delicious food, drinks and good music, it’s definitely something you should check out.

Steam Kitchen is a monthly street food market held at the 11,000 square foot event space and cultural hub, Steamworks on Randall Street, near Bramall Lane. It runs from Friday-Sunday each month, and has an ever-changing variety of street food vendors.

We attended their first and second street food markets and can safely say they’re really hitting their stride and improving each time. We popped into their first Steam Kitchen on the Saturday, and unfortunately a Sheffield United game at Bramall Lane meant they couldn’t serve alcohol while it was on because of their licence. It was a little quiet since word of mouth hadn’t quite spread yet, which made the large space more noticeable, but when we attended their next one in February, we had the full foodie/boozy experience—and we loved it!

At the second Steam Kitchen we gorged on A LOT of food, and tried something from everyone. Honestly, everything was top-notch and the vendors really outdid themselves, but we’d like to make a special shout-out to St. Marcino for their steak, chimichurri and fries, and Hope You’re Hungry’s award-winning wings and strips — we can’t stop dreaming about either of them, especially the Korean Fried Chicken strips.

It was such a lovely atmosphere, there were hoola hoops, drawing stations and free face painting for kids, a great selection of booze and non-alcoholic beverages for the adults, and plenty of room for everyone and their friendly dogs too. We really couldn’t recommend it enough, it’s both family-friendly, and a great spot for a date if you want to grab food first then hit Golf Fang after.

Sheffield is recognised as a haven for all foodies, with its annual Food Festival and (many) food-halls, so another street food market on the opposite side of town from Kelham Island’s Peddler Market is definitely a welcome addition to Highfield.

Steam Kitchen’s next street food market is this weekend:

Friday 22nd March 5PM-11PM

Saturday 23rd March 12PM-11PM

Sunday 24th March 12PM-8PM

Children are welcome until 8PM, and there’s plenty of roadside parking outside and around the area.
