The 16-year-old from Sheffield is the first driver to be announced on the grid for the 2024 ROKiT British F4 Campaign, driving for Argenti Motorsport.
Since the age of 5, Rowan Campbell-Pilling has been winning trophies across the UK. At the age of 14, he was crowned the UK Junior Karting Champion and became the youngest ever winner of the National Series.
His love for motorsport came at a very young age, he says one of his earliest memories was: “I remember getting picked up after school and going to an indoor track in Pontefract, I fell in love with it there really.” After a hugely successful karting career, Campbell-Pilling is ready to take the next step in his career by moving up to F4.
Speaking to him at his celebration event taking place at Burrows Mint Cars here in Sheffield, he recalls the moment he found out the news: “I found out two days before it was announced to the public… I was in my kitchen at home and I went and hugged my Dad, I was so so happy. I’m over the moon at the news… it’s been a dream of mine for a good while now.”
It is clear that the talented Rowan Campbell-Pilling could soon become a household name, and his love of Sheffield shines through when telling me about his work with local charity, The Children’s Hospital Charity. He said: “I am Sheffield born and bred. I want to make the people of Sheffield proud.”
The A-level student will be working hard to prepare for the 2024 season, as he explains, “the muscles used for karting and cars are very different… it is two very different skill sets and adapting to F4 is hard, but Argenti are helping me get on top of it.”
Campbell-Pilling joins Argenti Motorsport, who provide young, talented drivers with their first step in the FIA single-seater pathway. After joining the field in 2020 they have been very successful, securing 30 podium finishes and becoming vice-champions in 2021. Argenti will be hoping that by having the prodigious talent of Campbell-Pilling join their team, they can continue building on the success of past seasons and, in their own words, "build (a) future champion".
The passion for motorsport shines through in the way he passionately speaks about this new adventure, “It is an amazing opportunity Argenti have given me.
I’m probably most excited for Donnington. It’s really close, so my family will be there supporting me and I can’t wait.”
The 2024 ROKiT British F4 season starts at the end of April, at Donnington Park where he will make his debut for Argenti Motorsport. Motorsport fans in Sheffield will be watching with great interest to see his career develop as he embarks on this new journey!
