South York’s are you ready for Self Esteem AKA Rebecca Lucy Taylor? Bringing her energy, eccentric outfits and ‘fuck it’ attitude, Self Esteem are set to headline one of the UK’s newest and most exciting festivals, Rock N Roll Circus in Sheffield this September.
The Prioritise Pleasure artist has seen a whirlwind rise to fame and has dedicated her voice to the feelings of insecurity and misogyny- induced frustration that many of us face every day, embodying a whole new audience with powerful, truth-telling lyricism that makes you leave the show 1. Walking like you’re on a fashion runway and 2. Feeling like Beyonce.
Taylor and her band will be hitting the stage on Saturday 2nd September in their biggest homecoming show to date. The announcement comes off the back of two sold-out gigs at Sheffield’s O2 Academy where she gave music fans in Yorkshire everything they ever wanted – Richard Hawley, Mr. Blobby, Ozzy the Owl and much more.
The all-star diverse Saturday line-up was curated by Rebecca herself and features artists that are ‘close to her heart’ including Australian indie electro pop band Confidence Man, Drag Race UK break-out star Bimini, and the legendary Yorkshire Arctic Monkey’s tribute, Arctic Numpties, with more to come…
Speaking ahead of the Rock N Roll Circus show, Rebecca said today “SHEFFIELD. I just had to come back one more time before I fully commit to writing again. I am genuinely deeply excited – Don Valley Bowl, September 2nd – I promise you this is NOT to be missed”. And we’re listening loud and clear.
Although she sings of ‘doing this all the time’, it’s clear that all good things come to an end before we’re graced with album number 2. So, what are you waiting for?
Saturday tickets for Rock N Roll Circus will go on pre-sale Wednesday 19th April at 10am and will then be available for general sale on Friday 21st April at 10am.
Get those dates in your diary – we have!
Note:
Rock N Roll Circus is one of the UK’s newest and most exciting festivals and for its second instalment it takes up residence on Sheffield’s Don Valley Bowl from the 1st to the 3rd of September. Following on from an excellent debut in beautiful Newcastle, the festival travels to South Yorkshire to bring it’s unique music festival/circus hybrid experience to Sheffielders.
The festival isn’t just about music though. It’s called a circus for a reason… The weekend will feature fire performers, aerialists, contortionists, stilt walkers and acrobats, bringing a whole new dimension to the traditional concert experience.
