The lineup for the third Sheffield edition of Rock N Roll Circus has today been completed with the announcement that Liverpool indie legends The Wombats will headline the festival on Friday, joined by a stellar cast of Liverpudlian and local artists alike.
The Wombats have been stalwarts of the indie scene in the UK since the release of their debut album Proudly Present ... A Guide To Love, Loss & Desperation in 2007. Over the next 18 years the trio have managed to amass a hugely impressive list of bangers from their 6 albums; with tracks like 'Turn', 'Greek Tragedy' and of course 'Let's Dance To Joy Division' sure to make appearances during their set.
2025 has seen the band release their 6th studio album, Oh! The Ocean with band embarking on a UK arena tour in March in support of the album. The album expands the bands guitar filled sound to the furthest it's ever been, resulting in an album more ambitious and polished than anything produced to date.
The Wombats will be joined by fellow scouse indie rockers in Circa Waves and Jamie Webster. Circa Waves are always good value for a summer festival, their tunes are simply made for that atmosphere, from sun-soaked debut Young Chasers to this year's Death & Love, Pt. 1. Jamie Webster is another artist made for festival crowds, with the "People's poet" able to conjure so much magic with just his guitar.
The lineup isn't all about Liverpool though, there is a good sprinkling of homegrown talent in there too. There's the bright indie pop spark of Freddie Halkon, the fantastic guitar driven indie of The Rosadocs and The Crooks, the budding singer-songwriter talents of Bethany Grace and Alice Ede, the psych-punk brilliance of Femur, and the effervescent Sundress complete a Sheffield festival trifecta for themselves with their appearance.
Rounding out Friday's lineup are midlands pop outfit DECO, south-coast beach pop rockers Crystal Tides (who we caught in support of The Hoosiers in 2023), budding Irish modern rock in Somebody's Child, fellow Irish pop up-and-comer Nell Mescal, and newcomer from the Toon Charlie Floyd, who has recently released their debut single.
Rock N Roll Circus has one of the most impressive lineups to grace the Steel City in recent years with The Wombats joining Queens of The Stone Age, Reverend and the Makers and James in headlining this 5 day extravaganza.
Pre-sale tickets for The Wombats go live on Wednesday 19th March, with general sale starting Friday 21st March. You can register for pre-sale tickets here and for more information and to buy tickets for the rest of the festival, head to: https://www.rocknrollcircus.co.uk.
