Rock N Roll Circus is one of the UK’s newest and most exciting festivals and for it’s second instalment it takes up residence on Sheffield’s Don Valley Bowl from the 1st to the 3rd of September. Following on from an excellent debut in beautiful Newcastle, the festival travels to South Yorkshire to bring it’s unique music festival/circus hybrid experience to Sheffielders.
The one-of-a-kind music festival-cum-circus rolls into Sheffield for a weekend of partying, adding to the cities already stacked festival line-up for 2023. This edition sees UK music icon Noel Gallagher and his High-Flying Birds kicking things off, followed by a brilliant cast.
Joining Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on the line-up will be Happy Mondays, The Cribs, The Joy Formidable and Somebody’s Child to name a few across the weekend, staged in a huge bespoke Big Top structure specially built for this three-day series of live music.
With a new album ‘Council Skies’ set for release on 2nd June, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Bird’s appearance in Sheffield is the conclusion of an extended run of summer concerts for the legend of UK music.
Rock N Roll Circus isn’t just about music though. It’s called a circus for a reason… The weekend will feature fire performers, aerialists, contortionists, stilt walkers and acrobats, bringing a whole new dimension to the traditional concert experience.
Speaking ahead of today's announcement, a spokesperson for Rock N Roll Circus said:
“We're proud to be bringing our event to South Yorkshire. Sheffield has such a strong tradition for Live music, we're delighted to be able to host our touring concept there.”
Sheffield Councillor Martin Smith added:
“This is an incredibly exciting event which combines the best artists of the UK music scene with the top circus performers, it will be an immersive experience you won’t want to miss.
“Sheffield’s reputation as the music city is growing, and this event is a fantastic new element to the city’s varied major events calendar, featuring the best of music, sport, outdoors and entertainment. I’m so excited for the year ahead.”
We can only echo what has been said above, with Rock N Roll Circus joining Tramlines, Get Together, Float Along and Sheffield Music Trails, this summer is shaping up to be something truly special for this city of ours.
Tickets for Rock N Roll Circus will go on pre-sale Wednesday 1st March at 10am and will then be available for general sale on Friday 3rd March at 10am.
We’ll be there, will you?
