Last month, we were invited to the Canon Medical Arena to celebrate Rowan Campbell-Pilling’s hugely successful first season in ROKiT British F4.
Walking into the event, you were welcomed by a spectacular display, which included his Argenti racing car, his trophy collection and a screen playing memories of his debut season in single seater racing.
Across the season we were lucky enough to attend three exciting race weekends, and across the ten round season the Sheffield-born talent accumulated a magnificent 21 trophies and a Pirelli Hardest Charger Award.
Having attended the first round in Donington back in April, we asked Rowan if he saw a difference in himself between that first weekend and the last round in Brands Hatch. He said: “No I think I’m me. I’m always me. I’ve learned an awful lot, about driving style for different cars and more but it has been a great year.”
When he analysed his season as a whole, he reflected: “I think I’ve blown all expectations out of the water to be honest. I think we’ve done a stellar job. It’s been a really really tough year at times, but it’s been so good as well. It’s been a roller coaster of a journey, roller coaster of a year, and I’ve loved every second of it.”
During the event, Campbell-Pilling also discussed his role as Children’s Champion for The Children’s Hospital Charity. In the last 18 months, the Sheffield-born driver has raised over £25,000 for the charity.
He reflected: “As a team we’ve raised so much money from several events – abseils, sponsorships, my very own Steel City Cup, other F4-related events, charity auctions and more. The funds raised are so important in supporting the hospital’s patients and families. I’ve been honoured to help where I can.”
Recently, the 17-year-old announced his partnership with LivingCare, who help patients receive high quality care, at its newest facility at the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield.
He said: “I’m really excited to be partnering with them. The facility is absolutely amazing with some incredible technology. I’m so proud to be representing my hometown and I love when Sheffield businesses join me for the ride.”
2024 has been a year to remember for Rowan Campbell-Pilling and we look forward to seeing what 2025 has in store for him.
